Digital Comics Go Boom!
Boom! Studios announces digital distribution roll out. Complete Boom! Studios backlist to be available by the end of Summer 2010.
Here’s the full announcement…
On the heels of announcing the BOOM! Studios Comics app on the iPad & iPhone, BOOM! Studios line will now be found through leading digital comics distributors comiXology, iVerse, Graphic.ly, and Panelfly spanning the mobile, portable, and desktop space.
Launching today with some of BOOM!’s most recent top-selling comics, such as 28 DAYS LATER, DIE HARD, the Eisner Award-nominated graphic translation of Philip K. Dick’s DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP?, as well as BOOM!’s top-selling original, Eisner Award-nominated IRREDEEMABLE, companion series INCORRUPTIBLE, and supernatural thriller THE UNKNOWN, BOOM! Studios enters the era of Digital Comics with a bang!
BOOM! Studios is also proud to be the first comic company to make their entire back-catalog of comics available for download. Between now and the end of summer, comiXology, iVerse, Graphic.ly, and Panelfly will be offering more and more of BOOM! Studios’ past hit titles like FALL OF CTHULHU, 2 GUNS, HEXED, ZOMBIE TALES, CTHULHU TALES and many, many more. Fans should keep checking with all four digital comics distributors to see if your past favorite BOOM! Studios comic is available, while new fans have a great opportunity to check out stellar BOOM! Studios titles they might have missed.
All BOOM! Studios single-issue digital comics are priced at $1.99 with the first half of each series’ first issue available to download for free throughout all vendors.
“BOOM! Studios is aggressively committed to getting our comics and graphic novels into the hands of fans everywhere,” said BOOM! Studios Marketing Director Chip Mosher. “By offering our comics digitally we’ve made it easier than ever for new and old fans alike to access our growing library of acclaimed comics. Stay tuned! This is just the start of our digital roll out with much more to come!”
Long a leader in the digital comics space, BOOM! Studios’ announcement of their digital distribution roll out comes just a day after the debut of the BOOM! Studios Comics app on the iPad and iPhone, developed in partnership with comiXology, which came in at #7 in all ebook free app downloads yesterday, coming right behind Marvel’s app. In 2008, BOOM! Studios shocked the comics industry with the first day-and-date print and digital release of their comic book NORTH WIND, in partnership with MySpace. BOOM! was also one of the first comic book publishers to make their comics available through mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android mobile devices.
ComiXology, iVerse, Graphic.ly, and Panelfly join the growing list of distributors offering BOOM! Studios publications. Last month, BOOM! Studios announced that Haven Distributors would be carrying the full line of BOOM! Studios and BOOM Kids! releases to the direct market. This past summer, BOOM! Studios announced mass market distribution deals with Simon & Schuster and HarperCollinsCanada, with Simon & Schuster distributing BOOM! Studios and BOOM Kids! line of graphic novels in the United States and HarperCollinsCanada distributing in Canada.
Last March, BOOM! announced a newsstand distribution deal for their BOOM Kids! line through Kable Distribution Services, Inc., best known amongst comic book fans for distributing Archie Comics throughout North America in the United States and Canada.
The entire BOOM! Studios and BOOM Kids! line of publications are also offered in the direct market by Diamond Comics Distributors and Haven Distributors.
