SpiderBaby Archives: Of Mice, Men, & Self-Publishers, Part 2

Steve Bissette writes on his blog:

Another Peek at the Planned SpiderBaby Comix of 1997.

Though I’d pulled the plug on SpiderBaby Comix in 1997 before soliciting SpiderBaby Comix #5, I had done enough work on the special “Sinema” issue of SpiderBaby to show Diamond in preparation for solicitation: full-color cover mockups (above), a dummy of the complete comics content, which of course included “Kultz.” This is still my favorite SpiderBaby Comix cover, reworking elements from two panels of “Kultz” with spare use of color for optimum effect. It was shaping up to be my favorite issue, too, with reprints of all my film-related comics work, which indeed filled the entire issue.
