1st VT Cartoonist Laureate! All Hail, James Kochalka! I’ve been sitting on this news until I knew it was official and had been announced: Vermont now has its first-ever Cartoonist Laureate! Congratulations to James Kochalka , first-ever Continental United States Cartoonist Laureate!

Please change that misleading headline! Kochalka is awesome, but he is now the first Cartoonist Laureate of Vermont, not of the entire Continental US. Alaska already has a Cartoonist Laureate, so that’s why the original articles about this made the “first in the Continental US” distinction. Thanks.
