Yesterday, I completed a pre-print final revision to an introduction I wrote early in 2007 for Tom Yeates and Steve Perry ’s Timespirits collected edition. There’s heartbreak all around that Steve Perry didn’t live to see this collected edition, for a multitude of reasons. But the book will be out later this year, and I’ll post more info and artwork once Tom has completed all the chores involved and has more news to share.

Another Peek at the Planned SpiderBaby Comix of 1997.
Though I’d pulled the plug on SpiderBaby Comix in 1997 before soliciting SpiderBaby Comix #5, I had done enough work on the special “Sinema” issue of SpiderBaby to show Diamond in preparation for solicitation: full-color cover mockups (above), a dummy of the complete comics content, which of course included “Kultz.” This is still my favorite SpiderBaby Comix cover, reworking elements from two panels of “Kultz” with spare use of color for optimum effect. It was shaping up to be my favorite issue, too, with reprints of all my film-related comics work, which indeed filled the entire issue.

Steve Perry & Paul Chadwick’s Salimba Hits the Shelves Features Steve’s Final Story, “Baby” The collected edition of Steve Perry and Paul Chadwick ’s Salimba will be in shops soon—but not for long, and not in too many shops. Salimba collected edition publisher Nat Gertler of About Comics notes, “A combination of a sharp drop in the comics trade paperback market and my own clumsiness in the promotion of this book has lead to this book having the lowest print run of any book About Comics has ever released to the direct market. There simply won’t be a lot of copies out there. Anyone who wants to be sure to get this volume should either ask their retailer now to hold a copy for them – odds are the store won’t have ordered any, and will need to place a new order for it, the Diamond code is AUG100727.
