Mythology In Space – Preview Hercules: Wrath Of The Heavens Out This Week From Titan Comics

by Olly MacNamee

Now, I must admit that this title from Titan Comics peaked my interest. Hercules: Wrath of The Heavens by JD Morvan and artist Looky is inspired by the ancient tales of gods and monsters straight out of Greek mythology and planted on a future sci-fi backdrop. And, it’s out this week, so here’s a preview sporting a very fetching cover from none other than Walter Simonson.

Stylistically, it immediately reminded me of the painted stories of classic Heavy Metal magazine, which isn’t a bad thing one bit. And, growing up with Ulysses 31 here in the UK, I’ve always been a sucker for mythological stories set in space. who hasn’t? After all, isn’t that what Star Wars is, right?

Ancient Greece meets GEARS OF WAR in this stunningly illustrated, science fiction retelling of THE LEGEND OF HERCULES by multi award winning writer, JEAN-DAVID MORVAN (Wolverine: Saudade)! As war rages across the galactic frontier, one half-human, half-god super-soldier faces his greatest enemy – his own demons – in a bid for truth and redemption!

Hercules: Wrath of The Heavens is out this Wednesday August 16th in both brick and mortar stores and online.
