And so the Sanvers arc has come to an end. It was emotional, sad and painfully real. And while it might seem to some that Maggie was unreasonable not wanting kids, addressing that part of their shared future was something she and Alex needed to do. Even if it meant ending that future entirely. At least the show gave the topic room to breath — as oppose to, say, The Flash‘s curt removal of Jessie Quick — and allowed the relationship to end with respect to the characters.
Not that it makes it an easier for those who were invested in the couple.
So, in next week’s episode of Supergirl, the Danvers sisters head home to Midvale for a nostalgic pilgrimage — shades of Superman III, there — and an untold story of Kara and Alex’s teenage years in town. Something from that past will haunt them in the present even as Kara recalls the time her mother(!?) came to visit.
I just hope Lena’s okay while Kara visits home. She was shaken pretty hard by the events of this week — very nearly succumbing to her supposed nature as a Luthor — and definitely needs some support. I suppose Sam can help with that. And I guess for support of a different kind, there’s the weird tension with Jimmy. I didn’t misread that last scene between them, right?
Supergirl airs Mondays on The CW.
