“You Can’t Run From Your Own Shadow”: Your Ten Page Preview Of Shadowman #1

Anticipation for Valiant’s new ongoing Shadowman series has been building, and the publisher has now released an extended preview of that key first issue.
Written by Andy Diggle (Green Arrow: Year One, Daredevil) and drawn by Stephen Segovia (NINJAK, Action Comics), the first issue lands on March 28th, as the next installment of Valiant’s ICONS program, highlighting key characters in their stable.
If you’re new to Shadowman, you should know that main character Jack Boniface was orphaned as a child and raised “on the margins of society”, without a sense of personal destiny until he discovered it “in a darkness far older than the reign of men…” Now he’s the next in a long line of Shadowmen, mortals who bond with “violent voodoo spirits of immense power” to help patrol the boundaries between our world and the realms beyond.
In the current series, he’s returning from a period of self-imposed exile where he tried to quell the power of his violence loa, but he has a mission that make well shake the foundations of the Valiant Universe. The new storyline starts off with an arc called “Fear the Dark”, a three issue story.
The series is not only featuring a Pre-Order Edition Bundle for fans, but also the first issue will have an “ultra-limited, glow-in-the-dark variant cover” with metal printing, the publisher’s first Glow-in-the-Dark Brushed Metal Variant, featuring a cover by artist Tonci Zonjic (Who is Jake Ellis?).
