Cloak And Dagger Promo Offers Plenty Of Style In Freeform Program’s First Look
by Erik Amaya
Marvel Entertainment has released a first look at the upcoming Freeform program Cloak and Dagger, based on the Marvel comic book of the same name.
The series stars Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph star as Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, a pair of teenagers in New Orleans whose first steps toward becoming a couple get interrupted when they discover their superpowers work better in tandem with one another. Though it is still unclear if the characters will be portrayed as mutants in the series, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb said the show will attempt to be the first show to directly address a superhero romance.
Created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan, Cloak and Dagger were a pair of mutant runaways whose attempts to survive led them into conflict with everyone from Spider-Man to the X-Men. The television series will introduce parents for both characters, setting it apart somewhat from its Marvel roots. But thanks to Freeform’s teen focus, the show will appeal to Marvel’s original audience.
Cloak and Dagger premieres June 7th on Freeform.
