Oliver Goes Solo Against Diaz In A Preview of Next Week’s Arrow

by Erik Amaya

With more and more of the team vanishing, Oliver (Stephen Amell) has no choice but to go against Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) alone. But will doing so rupture the last bit of support he has from Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards)?

You’ll also notice in the video thumbnail that Oliver is wearing his original costume, suggesting a flashback will finally explain Diaz’s beef with Oliver. Not that we really need it. He’s an uninspired antagonist, so his motivation should be as well. Which is, perhaps, the most frustrating thing about the storyline: the lack of inspiration. Diaz is functionally no different than Prometheus and far less engaging. Dig’s decision to leave mirrors his season four departure. Even splitting Ollie and Felicity up — if it happens — would be a repeat. Maybe that’s even the point.
Or, as I suggested last week, it could be leading to a season 7 in which Ollie is alone, disgraced and living in the sewers. It’s the last major Green Arrow status quo the show has yet to use, so maybe we’re headed in that direction. It wouldn’t be a bad place to start from, particularly if next season is the last for the show.
