After years of Internet memes, write-in campaigns, a comic book revival, and constant questioning, Bill S. Preston, esq and Ted “Theodore” Logan are returning to the big screen in a film aptly titled Bill & Ted Face The Music. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves return as Bill and Ted, the two teenagers from San Dimas, CA who seemingly changed the world at a battle of the bands twenty-five years ago. Original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have also returned to write the screenplay with Galaxy Quest‘s Dean Parisot takes up directing duties. Steven Soderbergh is also on board as an executive producer alongside Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr., and John Santilli while Scott Kroopf, Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce will produce.
Then new films finds the world not nearly as changed as it seemed at the end of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Their music never saved the world and the pair went on to live more mundane lives than was foretold. But when a traveler from the future tells them their destiny still awaits, they set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony to the universe. Together with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, Bill and Ted find much, much more than just a song.
It is unclear if Death (William Sadler), Station, or the Good Robot Bill & Ted will return.
The film is currently in pre-production with no release date yet announced. MGM will distribute the film thought their recently resurrected Orion Pictures banner.
