A new promotional video for “Shin Chuuka Ichiban!” (New Cooking Master Boy) has been released. This is a sequel to the 1998 series Chuuka Ichiban, based on the manga by creator Etsushi Ogawa. The series takes place during the fictitious “Era of the Cooking Wars” set during 19th century China’s Qing Dynasty.  During this time, top chefs competed against one another to prove they were the best chef in China.  The lead character is Mao, whose mother was known as the “Fairy of Cuisine”, with Mao aiming to become a better chef in order to take over her restaurant after she passes.
New Cooking Master Boy takes place after Mao has passed the grueling Guangzhou Special Chef Trials, as Mao seeks to grow and learn more about preparing food.
This series will be developed by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). Itsuro Kawasaki (Bakumatsu Rock, Magical Girl Ore) will be directing and serving as the main writer for the project. Character design will be handled by Saki Hasegawa (Attack on Titan). This series currently has no scheduled season or release date.
