Build And Keep Your Very Own ECTO-1 From Eaglemoss Hero Collector

by Olly MacNamee

Eaglemoss Hero Collector are offering you the chance to build your very own 8-scale die-cast replica of ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters, as part of the 35th anniversary celebration of the film and the franchise.

Based on a careful study of the actual 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance used in the 1984 supernatural comedy, every possible detail of the ECTO-1 has been carefully reproducedin 1:8 scale. The doors, hood and windows all open, the headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and emergency lights all work, the siren sounds, and the steering wheel turns the front wheels. The completed model is over 31-inches long, close to 10-incheswide and showcases the custom modifications made by Dr. Ray Stantz himself,

Features include the vehicle’s roof rack with intricately reproduced and poseable P.K.E.-detection tools, rotating lights that work and spin, as well as an opening hood that reveals the highly detailed replica Cadillac V8 engine. The headlights and tail lights also light up  and all 5 doors swing open and shut too.

But, these details come at a cost and from previous experience of these bit-part builds, end up costing nearly as much as if you’d actually bought a working ECTO-1. Be warned, as it’s huge commitment both time wise and money wise. Although, I imagine there will still be many out there keen to build this kit and have their own die-cast ECTO-1 to admire.

Eagelemoss Hero Collector are taking early subscriptions to this here.
