The Battle Of Heaven And Hell In Babyteeth #15

by Josh Davison

[*Mild Spoilers Ahead!]

God Himself has arrived in the Red Realm, and He’s not happy. Satan told Sadie and her family the truth about their role in all of this, and God Almighty can’t allow that. He, His angels, and past armies of man are raining hell down on Satan’s followers, and Lucifer is itching to join the fray. He’s giving Sadie, Carter, Olivia, and Simon an opportunity to escape. However, Simon can’t make a portal now. It has to be Carter, but he has to be scared to do it. That means Heather has to put herself at risk, and she does it in the most spectacular way possible: riding Marty the demon with guns blazing at the angels of heaven.

Babyteeth #15 brings us an epic battle between the forces of Heaven and Hell, as God tries to stop whatever Satan has cooking up with Carter, Sadie, and their family.

It gives Heather, Michael, and Marty a chance to show their badass worth against the angelic host.

Needless to say, it’s a chaotic and fast-paced issue. The Book of Revelations is pretty much transpiring before everyone’s eyes.

There is a big twist at the end, though I won’t spoil the specifics of it here. It deliberately sucks the air out of the room and sets the next issue up for something truly hellish (in a good way).

Garry Brown does a good job of bringing all of this biblical chaos to life. The angels are winged white lights shaped like men descending upon the colorful menagerie of beasts that the Devil has at his disposal. The battle scenes are epic and sweeping, and the battle between God and the Devil looks pretty incredible. The quality of Mark Englert’s color work cannot be overstated here, as he plays with these color extremes in a spectacular fashion.

Babyteeth #15 is another powerful issue for Donny Cates AfterShock title. It ratchets up the intensity before pulling the rug out from under the reader in a big twist that sets up another sure-to-be fantastic issue. This one gets a recommendation for sure. Check it out.

Babyteeth #15 comes to us from writer Donny Cates, artist Garry Brown, color artist Mark Englert, letterer Taylor Esposito, and cover artist Garry Brown with Mark Englert.

Final Score: 8.5/10
