Pepper’s Lies Start To Unravel In A Preview Of Next Week’s ‘Katy Keene’

by Rachel Bellwoar

TV promos can be misleading. Sure, we’re supposed to believe everyone is talking about Pepper (Julia Chan) in the preview for next week’s Katy Keene, but that’s not necessarily the case. Alex (Lucien Laviscount) and Josie (Ashleigh Murray) are talking about her, but we don’t know what Pepper’s ex (Tedra Millan) told them yet, and It should be noted that, unlike the other lines in this promo (which could or could not be referring to Pepper, and are much more negative), Josie is concerned about her friend. She’s never held back from getting angry at Pepper before, so the question is this: what is Pepper into, and how much trouble could she be in if her lies get exposed?

Unfortunately, this probably means Pepper’s Fiji water girl stunt to promote the Pepper Plant is never going to get the recognition it deserves. This week’s episode also marks the first time I’ve been tripped up by one of the Archie-verse’s fake brand names. For a minute there, I couldn’t figure out why Katy (Lucy Hale) kept saying Meta Gala instead of Met Gala.
Of course, Katy only lasted an episode before going back on her decision to keep things professional with Guy (Luke Cook). The show also seems determined to latch onto any excuse to bring K.O. (Zane Holtz) back for a scene, but it was fun seeing Casey Wilson as herself be the celebrity Guy needs to design a Meta gown for, and Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) has some tough conversations this week, but he’s figuring stuff out and at least he and Bernardo (Ryan Faucett) were able to clear the air before officially breaking up.
Katy Keene airs Thursdays on The CW.
