Take Another Look At ‘ Cyberpunk 2077’ Courtesy Of ‘Night City Wire’
by Sage Ashford
Cyberpunk 2077 is easily the most highly-anticipated game of the year. Fans are still high off the strength of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red’s previous game, and they are hungry for any look at the hi-tech RPG set in the PnP world of Cyberpunk. Fortunately, we were given another glimpse into what the world will be like thanks to the first episode of Night City Wire, the company’s new video series highlighting the game.
In addition to a new trailer and some sneak peaks at the game itself, the company also discussed the Cyberpunk 2077 companion anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which will be animated by Studio TRIGGER; the company responsible for Kill la Kill, Promare, and other popular series. It is set to debut on Netflix in 2022.
They key gameplay footage focused on the game’s “Braindance” mechanic. This new ability feels like the classic “Witcher mode” taken to a new level, as player character “V” is able to access people’s memories; seeing everything they’ve seen and feeling everything they’ve felt. This footage slow down Night City Wire quite a bit, though, as it felt more like they had to explain exactly what was going on for everyone. Still, we hope this mode will be more entertaining to interact with in the game itself.
Fortunately, other gameplay elements were previewed as well, which introduced a ton of concepts to players like the outskirts of Night City, the badlands, and what actually riding through the city feels like. Despite all of this, the video still felt like a small tease. But CD Projekt Red has promised to make a return with Night City Wire for future content until the game releases on November 19th.
