Film Preview: ‘Headshot’ Sees Iko Uwais Playing A Sympathetic Badass

by Tito W. James

In Headshot, Iko Uwais (The Raid) plays a man who wakes from a coma and must immediately defend his doctor from a violent gang with connections to his past.

Fans of the Raid franchise should take note because Headshot delivers all the visceral action one could hope for, but also with a deep emotional core. Uwais is able to play a sympathetic underdog in addition to a hardened badass.

These kinds of action films are virtually non-existent in Hollywood, which usually opts for lighthearted power fantasies. Films like Headshot and The Raid deliver more violence, but also more humanity.

Headshot is now streaming on Netflix.
