‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Trailer Reveals A New Origin For Film Foe

by Erik Amaya

In its new trailer, Venom: Let There Be Carnage spends a surprising amount of time with Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) and the circumstance by which he obtains the Carnage symbiote. Revealing those origins is, perhaps, advantageous as the thing Venom film fans actually care about is how Eddie and Venom (both Tom Hardy) are doing. And the glimpses of their life suggest it is a struggle between Venom’s appetite and Eddie’s rules — even if he may have to suspend them for a big showdown with CarnageRube.

Although the new preview is frontloaded with more serious moments, it’s clear director Andy Serkis is maintaining the first film’s goofy streak. That was an aspect of Venom we really enjoyed and we’re glad to see it survive Ruben Fleischer‘s departure. Also, it’s nice to see Serkis transition into bigger budget films. Some of the Carnage animation seen in this trailer may not feel fully part of the surrounding environment, but its movement sure looks cool.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is currently scheduled for release on September 24th.
