The massive X-Men event of the fall is nearly here, and to get readers ready, Marvel released three very interesting new teasers.

On September 29th, the X-Men’s world is about to go up in flames. Inferno is the next major chapter in Jonathan Hickman’s sweeping X-Men epic, and the four issue event promises to threaten everything that mutantkind has built since House of X and Powers of X. The series will be drawn by Valerio Schiti, RB Silva and Stefano Caselli. Thanks to some new teasers released by Marvel, we know who some central figures are, and that both the X-Men and readers should TRUST NO ONE.

“I’m very excited that we’re finally getting to share with everyone the follow-up to House of X/Powers of X,” Hickman said. “The story is 160 pages over four issues drawn exquisitely by Valerio Schiti, R.B. Silva and Stefano Caselli. I cannot wait for people to read it.”

The trio of teasers (illustrated by Silva and seen in the slideshow above) reveal three sets of three characters who appear to be central to the upcoming event. Two of those teasers feature characters to be expected- Magneto, Emma Frost, Xavier, Mystique, Moira X and Destiny- but the last trio are a bit surprising. Though Colossus, Psylocke and Bishop have been stalwarts of the X-Men since their debuts, none of the three have been central to the Krakoa era. In fact, Colossus has only had a handful of appearances since HoX/PoX and Bishop hasn’t had a major role in Marauders despite being one of the series’ leads.

Also long-time fans will note that the series are an homage of the teasers for the original Inferno. Whether that holds any significance to the story or not is unclear (though it is unlikely).

Watch for more news about Inferno and pick up the series when it debuts on September 29th!
