‘Stargirl’ Season 3 Trailer Teases Villains “Breaking Good” And Sylvester’s Return
by Erik Amaya
As the only superhero show on The CW’s Fall schedule, Stargirl is getting an unusual amount of attention. One of the surviving programs of the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service, it found a home on The CW — if a universe away from the world of The Flash and Arrow. Free of any continuity issues (although one crossover has already occurred) it charts its own course as Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassginer) continues to build a new Justice Society of America with her friends, family, and — as this Season 3 trailer suggests — former enemies.
As revealed late last season, the third year of the show will be subtitled “Frenemies” and sees former Injustice Society family the Crocks moving in next door to the Whitmores. Along with Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy) — formerly a declared villain — Courtney hopes to help them, as she puts “break good.” Of course, this idea is intolerable to Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale), who witnessed his own JSA die at the hands of the Crocks and other ISA members. But that seems to be only one of his issues as he attempts to teach Courtney more about the Cosmic Staff. As also glimpsed in the trailer, he appears uninterested in a civilian life. Will it lead to a rupture in his friendship with Pat (Luke Wilson)?
Meanwhile, unseen in the trailer, Mister Bones has plans of his own for the new JSA…
Stargirl returns August 31 on The CW.
