by Gary Catig

We previously reported about some of the announcements from the DC is for Everyone panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. However, there were additional news and notes that weren’t necessarily found in the press release.

Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad spoke on the next arc for Batgirls. The series will have a switch in artist with the talented Neil Googe stepping in. The narrative will feel different as they slow things down. Killer Moth will play a role as well.

The reason that Clark Kent grapples with mortality in Superman: The Harvests of Youth is because he hasn’t encountered kryptonite yet. He has a sense of invincibility but realizes that those closest to him can’t share in that feeling. Sina Grace described the tone as Wonder Woman: Dead Earth but if the protagonist listened to Taylor Swift. A young Lex Luthor is set to appear and we also caught additional glimpses at the artwork.

Speaking of Wonder Woman: Dead Earth, its creator Daniel Warren Johnson current title is Jurassic League with Juan Gedeon. We received a sneak peek at the cover of the final issue which will be released in October.

Blue Beetle: Graduation Day from Josh Trujillo and Adrián Gutierréz will introduce the mysterious Yellow Beetle.

The panelist who generated the biggest buzz was actor Bruce Campbell. He will be writing Sgt. Rock vs. the Army of the Dead. It will be released on September 4 and has Eduardo Risso on art. The Evil Dead star was drawn to the character because Sgt. Rock has no superpowers besides loyalty and patriotism. He also teased that we will learn the true version of Hitler’s fate.
