Image Comics Announce New Dystopian Sci-Fi Series ‘The Territory’
by Olly MacNamee
The Territory is a new five-issue miniseries from writer Joe Pruett (Viking Moon, Kilroy Is Here, Cable) and French artist Philippe Xavier (Tango, Conquistador, The Serpent and the Coyote trilogy) and heading into comic book stores in January 2027 from Image Comics.

“Sixteen years ago, civilization collapsed. The world has reset itself into a dystopian landscape where only the law of the strongest rules. A man from a now decimated humanity and a young girl with no past, two unlikely companions, united by chance and a bond they do not yet recognize, are hunted through the cruel and ruthless expanses of the Territory, racing toward a common destiny neither of them could have anticipated. It’s Lone Wolf and Cub meets The Road and Mad Max in this all-too-possible near future tale of redemption and revenge.”
Pruett spoke about the series, but in particular about working with Xavier:
“If you are not familiar with the beautiful artwork that Philippe Xavier has been producing for the French market over the past two decades, then you are in for a treat! His breathtaking landscapes and exquisite attention to detail will captivate and delight American audiences as much as it has the European. The Territory is a heartwarming tale of hope and family in the midst of a dystopian landscape where only the strong survive.. In humanity’s darkest hour, two people miraculously find one another and, in the process, find themselves.”
Xavier added:
“I had a blast bringing this post-apocalyptic Western world to life. We started to work on this project in 2024, after first meeting in 1994, so this story is a celebration of 30 years of friendship! Enter the Territory at your own risk! Don’t forget your wool hat and furry gloves — Cooper and Sara are waiting for you.”
