Wizard World To Induct Jeff Smith Into Hall Of Legends In Columbus In August

Wizard World have announced that Jeff Smith, creator of the beloved comic book series BONE has been named the third honoree in the Wizard World Hall of Legends, a new initiative they have created to celebrate the artists, writers other professionals who have played a key role in building the comics industry. Smith will receive the award at a ceremony at Wizard World Comic Con Columbus on Friday, August 4, at 6:45 p.m. on the main entertainment stage at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Smith is The New York Times best-selling author/cartoonist of the BONE and RASL graphic novels. Bone has been the recipient of multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards, and the French Alph Art. In 2005, Smith’s work was chosen to launch Graphix, an imprint of Scholastic Books and Smith was also the guest editor of Best American Comics in 2013.

Independent books are a vital part of the comics world, and the wild success of ‘Bone’ coupled with Jeff’s commitment to the comic arts through various endeavors both locally in Ohio and across the nation are to be applauded.
Rob Liefeld, creator of the Cable, Deadpool, X-Force and Youngblood franchises, and Trina Robbins, cartoonist, comics historian, and the first woman to draw “Wonder Woman,” were already inducted into the Hall of Legends in 2017, presented with their awards on June 2 in Philadelphia and June 16 in Sacramento, respectively.
According to Wizard World, The Wizard World Hall of Legends initiative, which will honor one or more figures from the comics world at each convention, is one in a series of enhancements that the organization is making in the comics area at shows.
Artist Alley in Columbus will feature creators, such as Ethan Van Sciver , Shawn Coss, Darryl Banks, Noah Van Sciver, Brian Level, Colleen Doran, Simon Fraser, Jose Delbo, Steve Geiger, Stuart Sayger, Phil Ortiz and Tom Cook.
Wizard have introduced “The Creative Stage”, active throughout every show, providing attendees additional opportunities to interact with artists and writers, including demonstrations, Q&As, informative discussions, art raffles and auctions, learn-to-draw instruction, and more.
Columbus show hours will be Friday, August 4, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, August 5, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, August 6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with paid adult.
