Some days, you just need Cletus Van Dam by your side.
Deadline reports that actor Walton Goggins has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp, the second film in the Ant-Man series. Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang, the high-tech thief armed with Pym Particles and the ability to talk to ants. This time around, though, he has a partner in the form of Evangeline Lily’s Hope Van Dyne. Adopting the identity of the Wasp, she’ll be sure to show Scott how this heroing thing is done.
Michael Douglas and Michael Pena are also slated to return. Also, , T.I. and Fresh Off the Boat‘s Randall Park joined the cast.
It is unclear who Goggins will play in the film — he’s the sort of actor who can play your best friend or your worst enemy — but one imagines it will be a leading role.
Goggins first came to prominence as Shane Vendrell on FX’s The Shield. If you haven’t watched it, track it down as it’s one of the best cop shows ever devised. He moved onto Sons of Anarchy and Community and appeared in films like Cowboys & Aliens and Django Unchained. He also stars in HBO’s Vice Principals.
Deadline also reports the film will begin production at the end of the month and to expect some clarification on Goggins’ role during Marvel Hall H panel on Saturday. Peyton Reed returns to the direct Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is scheduled for release on July 6th, 2018.
