Deathstroke Gets Two-Episode Spotlight And Son In Arrow Season Six
by Erik Amaya
After spending years under Lian Yu, Deathstroke — aka Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) — is set to make a big return in season six.
While speaking with Collider, executive producer Marc Guggenheim mentioned a two-part Deathstroke story will occur in the first half of the season. Fully recovered from his exposure to the Mirakuru drug, his new status continues to enchant the Arrow writing team. “What makes the character so interesting is, he’s never black or white. He’s never pure good or pure evil. He’s complicated,” Guggenheim explained. “It’s not that he’s beyond redemption, it’s that you never know what you’re going to get with him.”
That tension between villain and anti-hero served the character well in DC Comics’ Deathstroke: The Terminator title.
Back on Arrow, the story will see Oliver fulfilling his promise to find Slade’s missing son. Entertainment Weekly reports Lucifer vet Liam Hall will play Joe Wilson; Slade’s son and a mercenary in his own right under the nom de guerre of “Kane Wolfman.” Now that is a deep-pull DC Comics reference.
The character is, of course, based on Jericho, the tragic Titans ally who eventually begged Slade to kill him. Hopefully their reunion on Arrow will be far more pleasant. But then, you never know with Slade Wilson.
Arrow returns October 12th on The CW.
