Dark Horse Comics Returns To The Badlands

by James Ferguson

Dark Horse Comics has announced the release of a new edition of the crime drama, Badlands.  Written by Steven Grant and illustrated by Vince Giarrano, the comic was originally published in 1992 and has been long out of print. The second edition of the book will feature a new cover by Tim Bradstreet.

Badlands uses real world events to tell a fictional story. It follows the events leading up to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, asking the question “Was there a second shooter”?
The comic centers on Conrad “Connie” Breman, an ex-con with a sordid, secret past. He just wants to get on with his new life, but he’s getting attention from all the wrong people, including the mob, the CIA, and the FBI.  All of them have plans for Connie and some of them include the murder of a president. The road to Dallas begins and ends in the Badlands.
We’re going through a crime genre renaissance right now so this new printing is a welcome sight.  I missed Badlands the first time around and you can bet I won’t let that happen when it’s re-released.  The new edition of Badlands goes on sale on March 14th, 2018.  It is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and at your local comic shop.
