Recalling the Justice League of America Crisis storylines of the Silver Age — and some notable “Crisis” event series of more modern ages — the three night event will see invaders from Earth-X (as depicted on the CW Seed animated series The Freedom Fighter: The Ray) crashing the wedding of Iris West and Barry Allen. TVLine reports Being Human‘s Russell Tovey will play The Ray in the crossover and voice him on the animated series.
As executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg told TV Insider, the crossover honors the yearly meetings between the JLA and the Justice Society of America in a now-defunct version of the DC Universe. To promote the idea, they enlisted the great Phil Jimenez to draw a promotional image in the style of the JLA/JSA team-ups. “[He] was the perfect choice to bring the comic book cover iteration of this idea to life. You can count on one hand the number of artists who could compellingly represent so many characters in a single image. Phil is one of them,” said Guggenheim. “And his design invokes the cover of Justice League #207, which was the 20th Annual JLA/JSA crossover. Our ten year-old selves are in heaven.”
“Crisis on Earth-X” begins on November 27th.
