Ron Howard Reveals Solo: A Star Wars Story

by Erik Amaya

After a very long time of calling this project The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story or similarly worded alternate titles, replacement director Ron Howard has finally given the film its true name: Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The obvious title, perhaps, But I — and I imagine other Star Wars fans — always suspected the title would be “Kessel Run: A Star Wars Story.” It’s Han’s great accomplishment. Well, in his own mind anyway. And some of Howard’s photos suggested the rogue’s 12-parsec course would be depicted in the film. Maybe it still is, but I guess it’s not the defining moment we’ve always been led to believe. At least, not important enough to be given the title treatment.
Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as a younger Solo. The smuggler and scoundrel will encounter familiar Star Wars characters and, perhaps, even have a close encounter with his ultimate destiny well before meeting Luke and Obi-Wan in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Along for the ride are Donald Glover as fellow charmer Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Clint Howard. It is scheduled for release on May 25th, 2018.
