Exotic Animals, Sprawling Forests, Mythic Creatures: Isola From Gotham Academy Team Of Fletcher And Kerschl
by Olly MacNamee
We all like Gotham Academy right? The writing, the art; it’s a wonderful, energetic read. Well, Gotham Academy writer Brenden Fletcher (Motor Crush) and his artist partner on the book, Eisner Award-winning storyteller Karl Kerschl (The Abominable Charles Christopher) team up with their colorist Msassyk and letterer Aditya Bidikar (Motor Crush) for a new lush, breathtaking fantasy Isola this April.
The captain of the Royal Guard has fled the capital city with the Queen of Maar, suffering under the effects of an evil spell. Captain Rook’s only hope of returning Queen Olwyn to her throne and saving the kingdom from impending war lies on an island half a world away—a place known in myth as Isola, land of the dead.
We’ve only got a spiffy looking cover for now, but the moment we hear of any interior pages, we’ll let you be the first to know.
As for Fletcher and Kerschl’s love of working together, this is what Fletcher had to say:
Karl and I have been friends since we were 10 years old. Publishing Isola with Image Comics is the culmination of everything we dreamed about as kids and worked toward as adults.
And, Kerschl?
Isola is my dream comic. Exotic animals, sprawling forests, mythic creatures: all of my artistic indulgences under one roof.
Isola #1 (Diamond code: FEB180500) hits comic shops Wednesday, April 4th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, March 12th.
