Cameron Britton, Colm Feore And Adam Godley Join Netflix’s Umbrella Academy

The cast of Netflix’s Umbrella Academy adaptation continues to grow.
Based on the comic book by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, the series follows the lives of a dysfunctional family of superheroes. Though estranged for many years, they come together to solve the death of their father and discover the whereabouts of a long-missing sibling. They also confronted a number of personal issues along the way. Ellen Page plays Vanya, the only member of the family lacking for super skills. Described as a “meek and insecure wallflower” in an earlier report, she struggles to find a place in a family of super geniuses, space-farers and the like. Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castaneda, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher round out the family.
And according to Deadline, Cameron Britton, Colm Feore And Adam Godley will also feature as regulars on the series. Britton will play Hazel, the other half of Mary J. Blige’s hit squad duo of Cha-Cha and Hazel. Though, according to the report, decades on the job has worn him thin and put the pair at odds.
Feore will play Sir Reginald Hargreeves, the renowned scientist, adventure and gadfly who assembled the group as children and systematically deprived them of childhoods. While his death initiates the events of the story, his presence is felt long after he is put in the grave. Godley will voice Hargreeves’ engineered chimpanzee companion Pogo.
Finally, Ashley Madekwe will recur on the series as Detective Patch, a “by-the-book” police officer with a dim view of vigilantes.
Which would seem like a pretty complete cast. Based on the inclusion of Cha-Cha and Hazel, many are speculating the story will combine the first two comic book story lines into one on-going tale. However, it is unclear how much of a departure it will be.
Umbrella Academy is expected to debut later this year.
