Action Comics #1000 Release Variant Covers Celebrating Each Dynamic Decade Of Superman!

by Olly MacNamee

With the highly anticipated Action Comics #1000 (well, in my household, anyway) only a few weeks off, I was excited to hear the DC are to release a slew of variant covers by some of the very top talent in comics today to help celebrate not only this landmark edition, but also Supes’s 80th birthday too.
Here’s a peek at the seven shared by DC, and the full list of creators too, and which decade they’re illustrating. My favourite? It juts has to be Mike Allred’s sixties-inspired Action Comics cover. It’s juts so evocative of the era.
1930s by Steve Rude (FUTURE QUEST, FUTURE QUEST PRESENTS)
1940s by Michael Cho (BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE)
1950s by Dave Gibbons (WATCHMEN)
1960s by Michael Allred (BUG!: THE ADVENTURES OF FORAGER)
1970s by Jim Steranko
1990s by Dan Jurgens (ACTION COMICS) and Kevin Nowlan (HAWKMAN: FOUND)
2000s by Lee Bermejo (LUTHOR)
(Not Shown: 1980s cover by Joshua Middleton)

Action Comics #1000 is out 4/18 from DC Comics.
