Now that Oliver (Stephen Amell) is sure he wants to remain being Green Arrow, he has to tell Diggle (David Ramsey) about his decision. And, if this preview of next week’s show is any indication, he will not take the news well.
And if you have a sense of deja vu about Ollie and Dig fighting, that’s because it has happened before. Like so much of the current season, the plot we’re being presented with is a rehash in service of an ill-advised storyline: the breakdown of Team Arrow. While there are bright spots — like any scene where Nyssa (Katrina Law) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) interact or Curtis (Echo Kellum) asking that GCPD officer out on a date — watching the group disintegrate does not seem as compelling as it might have a few years ago.
That said, if this is all to get Ollie to a place where he’s living alone in the sewers — like his early 1990s comic book status quo — maybe there’s something to it. But right now, it’s disappointing television.
