Black Lightning‘s debut season is nearing its end. But with the title character still wanted for Lady Eve’s (Jill Scott) murder, Tobias (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) going on the offensive with LaLa (William Catlett) and Khalil (Jordan Calloway), and the ASA looking to get a hold of Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and Thunder (Nafessa Williams), it is entirely possible a member of the Pierce family may not survive the finale. At least, that’s what the following preview suggests.
But death is strangely impermanent on the series, which may explain why Tobias was so angry that his sister’s body was left behind a few episodes ago. As with LaLa, it seems Tobias has some facility to bring people back from the dead. And it seems that ability is not connected to the ASA or its Greenlight experiments. Nonetheless, Tobias wants access to that as well; and it’s possible he will ignore Black Lightning to get control of the agency’s scheme.
Which, considering the parallels to the CIA’s influence on the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s, may be as revolutionary an action as anything Jefferson and his daughters can do while fending off the Freeland PD at their hideout. Or is the ASA attacking Gambi’s (James Remar) cabin? Either way, it will be interesting to see how the series wraps up year one after dramatizing a high school shooting incident — a season-ending scenario on pretty much any other series.
