In a new preview for the upcoming Cloak and Dagger, Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy (Olivia Holt) test out their newly-found powers and, in at least one moment, their connection. For Tyrone, it means a form of teleportation while Tandy’s power is something a little more solid and potentially lethal.
And while this promo reveals a lot of the superpower action to come, it will not be present in the pilot. As I said with my brief WonderCon review, the first episode is very much about the pair first discovering their powers individually than actually using them or getting to know one another. It’s an element which may grate on fans of the characters and watchers of superhero shows, but makes perfect sense for the younger audience the program hopes to attract. If it is still moving at the pilot’s pace by episode three, there may be more cause for concern. Joseph and Holt are good and their few scenes together in the pilot suggests they’ll make a great team, but I don’t think even the fresh young audience will wait a whole season for it to happen.
