Jim Cornette Partners With IDW For ‘Real Pro Wrestling Stories’ On Kickstarter

by Brendan M. Allen

IDW Limited presents a collection of stories fro pro wrestling’s foremost expert historian.

If you’ve watched professional wrestling, like, ever, you know Jim Cornette. As a pro wrestling manager, booker, commentator, and even occasionally lacing up the boots himself, there are select few that have had the opportunity to fill so many roles in so many mainstream and independent wrestling companies, gaining Cornette a unique perspective on the industry from top to bottom. What you may not have known? Cornette is a huge comics collector.
Cornette says:

I collected comics even before I got into wrestling, and as a collector myself I want to make this a real collector’s item! I’ve been telling stories for years in my columns and on my podcasts. But you know what they say, a picture’s worth a thousand words. So sixty pages of pictures should be enough room to tell a heck of a lot of amazing stories. I can’t wait to take people behind the scenes and have them SEE some of my favorite moments illustrated by an awesome team!

In April, the doors of Castle Cornette are being opened to the public and Jim Cornette, in association with IDW Limited are bringing forth 60 pages of a limited-edition graphic novel. Written and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominated Brandon Easton and Denis Medri, the award-winning team behind Andre The Giant: Closer to Heaven, this project starts funding on Kickstarter on April 17th.
The book will feature three chapters of tales presented by Cornette and adapted by the team of Easton and Medri. Through Kickstarter, IDW Limited will grant additional content and opportunities to Cornette’s fans and fans of Pro Wrestling. Additional perks will include original art, personal conversations with Cornette himself, and even the ability to be drawn as a heel character directly into the graphic novel.
On working with Jim Cornette on this project, Easton said:

I’m a big fan of Jim Cornette’s storytelling – both in the ring and through his podcasts. I’m beyond excited to work on this project and explore the modern history of pro wrestling with a man who experienced it firsthand.

Medrini adds:

Obviously we’re passionate about pro-wrestling, and the chance to return to the ring has us flexing our creative muscles!
