Maxwell’s Demons #1 FCBD 2018 Special Is Not For Kids

by James Ferguson

If you were planning on picking up Maxwell’s Demons #1 from Vault Comics for Free Comic Book Day this Saturday, make sure you’re grabbing it for the intended audience.  Due to a mix-up, the issue is mislabeled as an all ages title when it is actually intended for ages 13 and up due to mild language and violence.

To help retailers clarify the proper rating to Free Comic Book Day patrons, Vault Comics has created a set of ready-to-print shelf-talkers, flyers, and cover stickers that are available to download here.
Vault Publisher, Damian Wassel says:

First and foremost, we want to give our deepest apologies to the retailers, our partners-in-comics, who have been inconvenienced by this mix-up.  We know how taxing it is to run Free Comic Book Day events at your stores, and the last thing we would ever want is to create problems for you and your customers. We are working with the teams at Diamond Comics Distributors and Free Comic Book Day to do everything we can to help ensure Maxwell’s Demons #1 is given out to the proper audience. We hope these new labels will enable our retail partners to have a smooth and enjoyable Free Comic Book Day.

Maxwell’s Demons is written by Deniz Camp and illustrated by Vittoria Astone.  The series follows 10 year old Maxwell Maas, a kid with the greatest mind the world has ever known as he adventures to distant worlds through his makeshift multiversal closet door.  He encounters greatness and goodness on a cosmic scale, but will he realize that danger lurks on both sides of the door before it’s too late?
Free Comic Book Day 2018 is this Saturday, May 5th.
