BookCon In NYC Is Taking Fans On The Getaway From Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

BookCon 2018 is taking place in New York City on the 2nd and 3rd of June, and they’ve announced that they’ll be expanding family programming. Part of that expansion is taking Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans on a “mini getaway”.
BookCon attendees will have the opportunity to walk through a recreation of The Getaway Experience, inspired by the Diary of a Wimpy Kid family vacation from the book. This interactive experience will be supported by an appearance by the series’ author Jeff Kinney on Sunday, June 3rd.
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid at BookCon will offer an exclusive fan experience, including:
- Get ready for takeoff and board THE GETAWAY – The mini-family vacation allows fans to view a collection Diary of a Wimpy Kid promotional items, watch in-flight entertainment videos, and get a special sneak peek of the upcoming Book 13 on-sale this coming fall, October 30!
- Snap a picture on The Heffley’s Family Vacation Getaway – Three fun family photo opps await including THE GETAWAY plane and two vacation postcards. Say, “Cheese touch!”
- What’s an Island Getaway Resort Trip without Island Games? – Fans can play THE GETAWAY Plinko Board Game and win some prizes!
- Meet Greg Heffley and Take a Photo at the island GETAWAY! – The Greg Heffley costume character will be making special appearances throughout BookCon. Fans can share photos with Greg on social media with the hashtag, #THEGETAWAY@BOOKCON
- Jeff Kinney Live – Jeff Kinney will speak with fans and answer questions on Sunday, June 3 at 3:15 PM in Room 1E10.
The Getaway, Book 12 in The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, series was released in November 2017 and became a #1 bestseller around the world.
