Elisabeth Shue Joins Amazon’s Adaptation Of The Boys
by Erik Amaya
Elisabeth Shue is joining The Boys.
Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson and originally published by DC Comics’ Wildstorm imprint in 2006, The Boys takes place in a world where superheroes are as corruptible and fallible as any other celebrity. A vigilante squad known as “The Boys” monitors the superpowered community and takes action when necessary. Karl Urban stars as Billy Butcher, a “mysterious and brutal” member of The Boys with a personal but secret agenda. He convinces Hughie (Jack Quaid) to join up and get revenge on the superhero community for the death of Hughie’s girlfriend. Suicide Squad‘s Karen Fukuhara will also appear as Female, a talented assassin whose superpowers allow her to end her targets with an “explosive evisceration.”
According to Deadline, Shue will play Madelyn Stillwell, vice president of Hero Management for Vought, who manages the public personas and assignments of the superheroes. Described as a “tough negotiator who rides roughshod over public relations dilemmas,” she managed the incident in which Hughie’s girlfriend died.
Anthony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jesse T. Usher, Chase Crawford, Nathan Mitchell and Erin Moriarty also appear as various superheroes the Boys will face along the way.
The Boys will debut on Amazon Prime in 2019.
