Book Expo & BookCon 2018: Image Comics Panels, Signings, And Giveaways

by Gary Catig

Book Expo and BookCon are two events that celebrate and focus on books. The former is more of a trade show and caters to industry people while the latter prides itself as the place where storytelling and pop culture meet and is more of a traditional convention. Though technically two separate shows, they do run back to back and are run by the same company.  Both will be held in a few weeks with Book Expo running from May 30 – June 1 while BookCon will be held from June 2 – June 3.

Image Comics will be present for the shows and they recently released their plans. They have their own booth, #1803, and have special showcase booths for their series Oblivion Song (#1807) and Snotgirl (#1809). They will also have giveaways including special buttons, galleys of Oblivion Song, Norroway, and Perdy, and an advanced issue of Weatherman # 1.
In addition, they will have panels and signings. You can check out the details below.

Panel – Graphic Novels: Genres Within Genres
Location – Javits Center – 1E11
Time – Friday, June 1st, 3:00pm-3:50pm
Speakers – Tee Franklin, Charles Soule, Kit Seaton, and Dean Haspiel

“The creators represented at this education session have books that could be categorized as YA, LGBTQ, HUMOR, FANTASY, SUPERHERO, THRILLER, ROMANCE and MYTH/FABLE.  While Graphic Novels are often grouped together under the Graphic Novel Genre (although aficionados would argue the Graphic Novel is a format, not a genre), the wealth of amazing and varied content within the category reveals that COMICS ARE FOR EVERYBODY!”
