Could It Get More Weird Or Wonderful? First Look At Coda #3 From Simon Spurrier & Matias Bergara

by Hannah Means Shannon

Boom! Studios has released a First Look at Coda #3, the next issue of their irreverent critique of the fantasy genre by Eisner-nominated writer Simon Spurrier (Sandman, The Spire) and Matías Bergara (Cannibal, Supergirl).

The series reveals the aftermath of an apocalypse which wiped out most magic from a “once-wondrous fantasy world”, and wherein in “an antisocial former bard named Hum seeks a way to save the soul of his wife with nothing but a foul-tempered mutant unicorn and his wits to protect him”. Enter a power struggle which will decide who rules “the weird wasteland”.

In Coda #3, which features a main cover by Bergara, along with variant covers by Eisner Award nominated cover artist Julian Totino Tedesco (Hawkeye) and artist Toni Infante (Sons of The Devil), Hum returns to Ridgetown, only to find the city under siege by Thundervale, “a bandit city that rests on the back of the last living giant”.

Here’s that First Look!

Print copies of Coda #3 will available for sale on July 11, 2018 at local comic book shops (use to find the nearest one) or at the Boom! Studios webstore, though quantities may be limited. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the Boom! Studios app.
