Roly Poly Is A Candy-Colored Rollercoaster

Roly Poly is a graphic novel created by Daniel Semanas that fuses visuals from American Pop Art, K-pop, internet culture, and Manga. The story is set in a near-future Korea and centers around Phanta, a young female fighter aspires to be a K-Pop star. However, the rode to success isn’t a clear path as Phanta is slowly inducted into a psychedelic drug cult.

Semanas’ art is fresh and colorful with elegant design sensibilities. It reminds me of Pink Beard Legacy. From the trailer I can guess this story will strike a chord with young professionals suffering from workaholism who turn to psychedelics for answers.
