Timothy Dalton Set To Become The Chief In DC Universe’s Doom Patrol

Doom Patrol is now the most exciting comic book television idea coming in 2019.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former 007 Timothy Dalton will star in the series as Dr. Niles Caulder — aka The Chief. Created Arnold Drake and Bruno Premiani, the character assembled the weirdest of DC heroes for his own ends. While often altruistic, The Chief’s designs can feature an undercurrent of menace. In fact, he may have been responsible for the accident which turned Cliff Steele into Robotman. THR describes the television version of The Chief as “a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as the Doom Patrol. ”
Brendan Fraser will play Cliff in the series, with April Bowlby and Diane Guerrero also starring as Elasti-Woman and Crazy Jane. Recent set photos have spotted someone playing Negative Man, but like Robotman, the person in the costume and the person giving voice to the character will no doubt be different.
Jovian Wade will also appear in the series as Cyborg, the missing character from DC Universe’s Titans who sends the team on a mission they cannot refuse. Alan Tudyk will also appear as antagonist Mr. Nobody.
With Dalton cast as The Chief, it seems the less-than-savory aspects of the character will remain in tact as Dalton can play hero and villain with equal precision and charm. And with the cast almost complete, this is shaping up to be the most interesting live-action series announced for the DC-branded streaming platform so far.
