Joe Quiñones’ Firefly #2 Variant Highlights Wash & Zoe

by James Ferguson

Boom! Studios is pouring on the love for Firefly. The series is set to debut in November, but the publisher has already revealed a number of variant covers for the second issue. This time around, we’ve got a new one from Joe Quiñones featuring the ‘Verse’s favorite couple, Wash & Zoe.

Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor at Boom! Studios says:

There’s no shortage of threats and enemies to be found ‘round the ‘Verse, but in all the chaos the core of the story is love and family and what you would do for both. Joe perfectly captures the blueprint for that in Zoe and Wash’s relationship in one image, from their genuine affection and respect for each other, to the ever-looming presence of Mal as they try to find their shared path forward.

Firefly is written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Dan McDaid. Firefly creator Joss Whedon will be acting as story consultant. The series tells the story of the Unification war, the intergalactic civil war that tore apart friends and family.

In addition to the standard Quiñones variant, Boom! will be offering a rare inks-only version of the cover. Ask your local comic shop about how to get a copy.
Firefly #2 is set for release in December 2018.
