Warner Bros. had one more Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer up its sleeve and it may be the most thrilling of them yet.
In it, Grindelwald (Johnny Depp, unfortunately) outlines his plan: pure-blood domination. If you happened to be at SDCC this year, you may have heard a version of this speech live. It was a very strange note for Hall H, but makes perfect sense withing the Wizarding World itself. The speech, not his ideas; which will start a war with the Muggle world before too long. Which is why Dumbledore (Jude Law) is sending Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to deal with the Dark Wizard. But take a look at the trailer for yourself and note some of the various Harry Potter easter eggs.
Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, and Ezra Miller return with Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, and Poppy Corby-Tuech joining up for this latest expansion of the Wizarding World. The Redmayne/Waterston/Fogler/Sudol team made Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them an unexpected delight, but it remains to be seen if the quartet will continue to weave their magic in this installment, particularly as Depp’s bad juju will be infecting the picture.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald opens on November 16th.
