Mystery Science Theater 3000 And She-Ra Top Our Picks Of Netflix’s November Releases

by Erik Amaya

Netflix unleashed its list of content coming to (and leaving) the service in November. And around here, there’s cause to celebrate as Mystery Science Theater 3000 returns for its 12th season. Referred to as “The Gauntlet,” the season sees Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day) subject Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray) and the Bots to a marathon of six cheesy movies. The change reflects the program’s move to a streaming service and the binging habits of their subscribers. But considering the rumored list of films in the marathon, it will definitely be worth the time when the season debuts on November 22nd.
Next month will also bring with it the debut of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. The modernized update of the 1980s Filmation She-Ra: Prince of Power sees Horde soldier Adora (Aimee Carrero) taking up the mantle of She-Ra and learning the truth of the Horde as an occupational force on the planet. Breaking with everything she knows, Adora swears loyalty to the emerging resistance. Considering the strength of Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender and other animated offerings, this should be good. It debuts on November 16th.
For film buffs, Netflix will be the home of The Other Side of the Wind, Orson Welles’ final film. Incomplete in his lifetime, various filmmakers and entities have tried to finish the film for over 30 years. And though it still seems impossible to believe, the film will finally have a chance to find an audience. As a companion to the film, Netflix will also release They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, a documentary exploring Wells’s final years and his decade-long struggle to make The Other Side of the Wind. Both will be available on November 2nd.
Other films worth watching include Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Close Encounters of the Third Kind (both available on the first of the month) and Jeremy Saulnier’s excellent Green Room (available November 18th). For comic books fans, the animated Doctor Strange and Planet Hulk will debut on November 1st.
Of course, these are just our picks. Here’s the full list of titles debuting and departing Netflix in November:
