Boom! Studios To Attend ALA Midwinter For The First Time
by James Ferguson
Boom! Studios has announced it will be attending ALA Midwinter this January at the Washington State Convention in Seattle, WA. The publisher will be debuting an all-new booth (#626) with early looks at a number of 2019 graphic novel titles including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Avant-Guards, The Magicians: Alice’s Story, Waves, Just Beyond: The Scare School, and more.
Arune Singh, VP Marketing at Boom! Studios says:
Libraries are where so many of us begin our most important journey in life – discovering the world around us by opening the doors to a world we’ve just begun to explore and to others we never imagined. BOOM! Studios is excited to make our debut at the American Library Association’s Midwinter meeting by bringing a robust selection of graphic novels, some of the most acclaimed authors in comics and some more surprises for everyone attending this important event. We’re looking forward to meeting every librarian in attendance to help them discover the BOOM! Studios graphic novels perfect for their communities – and it’s our guarantee that you’ll leave our booth with more than one.
Attendees will have a chance to speak one-on-one with the writers behind some of these titles including Jordie Bellaire, Lilah Sturges, and CB Lee. Librarians who visit the booth during select times can acquire exclusive Buffy the Vampire Slayer merchandise for free including a limited edition tote bag and a Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 ALA Midwinter variant cover exclusive to the show.
Boom! Studios will also be hosting a round table panel discussion on graphic fiction on Monday, January 28th from 10:00 – 10:50 AM at the Pop Top Stage. Details below:
Join Jordie Bellaire (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Lilah Sturges (Lumberjanes: The Infernal Compass, The Magicians: Alice’s Story) and CB Lee (Ben 10: The Truth is Out There) for a discussion on the diverse, award-winning imprints of BOOM! Studios, Archaia, BOOM! Box, and KaBOOM!. Hosted by Arune Singh (VP Marketing, BOOM! Studios), this round table discussion will tackle the challenges in creating original concepts in the current market; modernizing beloved pop culture icons; and the path forward to a more inclusive industry.
