Ubisoft’s New Footage For Beyond Good And Evil 2: Vehicles, Powers, Co-Op, And More
by Sage Ashford
As the year winds down, Ubisoft gives us the first ever gameplay footage of the new game from Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman and the original Beyond Good and Evil. Though the original was a linear action-adventure game with light stealth and puzzle elements, the new game fits much more in the typical AAA mode of the day, with its massive open world and co-operative play. The title will take players into the world of System 3, one of the many solar systems humans have developed in the 24th century, which has become home to everything from a slave trade to space pirates.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in the works for several years now, with Ancel occasionally re-confirming the game existed, but without any concrete proof. At least, not until the game made a sudden showing during E3 2017 with a beautiful cinematic trailer. Since then, the game has made an appearance every six months–first during the first Space Monkey live-stream in December, then some very basic combat a month before E3. Now, 18 months from its initial reveal, Ubisoft has four minutes of what’s obviously very early gameplay, showing off the customization of vehicles and some of what they’re aiming for in terms of combat.
There’s an extended look at the gameplay alongside commentary from the BGE2 developers here from their hour-long archived livestream.
Beyond Good and Evil currently has no scheduled release date.
