A Non-Crossover For A Non-Team Culminates In Defenders: The Best Defense

by James Ferguson

Marvel Comics has brought back the original Defenders, although not in the way you might think. Over the past two weeks, a series of one-shots have been released, each focusing on a single character, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, and Namor and it all leads up to Defenders: The Best Defense on December 19th.
Lead writer Al Ewing, SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, and Editor-In-Chief C.B. Cebulski discuss the project in a new video which you can check out below:

Cebulski says:

Not only are we assembling one of the classic rosters of The Defenders, but we’re also putting together a phenomenal cast of creators to bring these adventures to life.

This is a pretty cool idea and a great way to test the waters about future team-ups. I’ve enjoyed the one-shots and I’m curious as to how this all ties together. Ewing teases it as “a massive, kind of cosmic shebang” and there’s nothing I don’t like about that sentence.
Look for Defenders: The Best Defense at your local comic shop on December 19th, 2018.
