CyGames Explains What Comes NEXT For Shadowverse In 2019

The popular digital CCG Shadowverse has made it through it’s second full year and with it comes another edition of Shadowverse NEXT, a video explaining some of the things they plan to roll out in the game over the next year. Though this year’s video wasn’t quite as jam-packed with new information, last year did create an entirely new format so we’re measuring against a pretty high bar.
Nonetheless, there was plenty worth talking about here. The first half of the video delves into the variety of e-sports tournaments CyGames has planned both domestically and worldwide. The most noteworthy of these being the Japan-only Shadowverse University League, a 5v5 team based tournament open only to students in college.

The second half of the video delved into content aimed outside the competitive scene. First off, they revealed our multiverse traversing heroes are headed to a new world after the Guild War storyline finishes. They’ll visit the world of Aiolon, where they’ll face off against Belphomet, ruler of Aiolon, and gain help from Tetra, an “awakened robot”. Despite this introduction, there was no acknowledgement of a new class so presumably Tetra will fall under one of the eight existing ones.
Next they discussed a new version of Take Two, Shadowverse’s draft format, where players can face off against one another using the cards from recently purchased packs. This will release in Summer of 2019.
They also confirmed a chat function for the game, hopefully fostering a better sense of in-game community that’s been absent from the game thus far.  They reminded us of the new set Alterverse coming December 27th, which means Starforged Legends will be rotating out.
Lastly, they revealed more tie-ins coming to the world of Shadowverse.  We were reminded of partnerships with Fate/stay night and the upcoming anime Mysteria Friends, but also told of two new tie-ins as well: the Cygames mobile RPG Princess Connect Re:Dive and the popular series One Punch Man.  All of these events are sure to shower Shadowverse players with even more gold and packs, as CyGames has never been shy about trying to retain players through as many freebies as possible.
