Paintings Get Their Revenge On Critics In Velvet Buzzsaw

by Tito W. James

In Velvet Buzzsaw, snobbish art critics are killed off by a series of possessed paintings. The cast of actors and art-themed plot intrigue me enough to watch the film once it’s available to stream on Netflix.

However, it’s also worth noting that Velvet Buzzsaw has a premise that is very similar to an animated film called Ruben Brandt, Collector.

With upcoming films like Brightburn and Us , it appears that 2019 could be a great year for creative horror stories. For a while, the horror genre was saturated with generic teen-slashers and low-budget demonic possessions.

With The Shape of Water and Get Out winning big at last year’s Oscars, we may be getting a variety of more intelligent horror films that adult audiences deserve.
