Dougray Scott Joins Batwoman As Kate’s Father Jacob

Dougray Scott has finally found his comic book niche.
Deadline reports the actor will play Kate Kane’s (Ruby Rose) father Jacob in the upcoming Batwoman pilot. Created by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III, Jacob Kane was a life-long military man who encouraged his daughter Kate to follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately, her military career was short-lived as an incident led to her being outed. Jacob did his best to understand, but the two finally became close again when he on the role of the “Man in the Chair” to Kate’s Batwoman. In the television series, Jacob is a retired colonel leading a private security firm known as The Crows. His dislike of vigilantes will eventually put him at odds with Kate.
Scott lives in some infamy as he was first cast in 2000’s X-Men as Wolverine before being replaced by Hugh Jackman due to scheduling issues and production overruns on Mission: Impossible 2. Scott would eventually admit some sadness in missing out on the role, but only had nice things to say about Jackman and his version of the character.
Batwoman, meanwhile, also stars Birds of Prey‘s Rachel Skarsten as Alice, a villain who may have some connections to both Kate and Jacob; Camrus Johnson Luke Fox, the son of Lucius Fox and the person keeping the lights on in Wayne Tower; Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, a private security agent with a soft spot for Batwoman’s civilian identity; and Nicole Kang as Kate’s half-sister Mary Hamilton, a social media influencer on the rise with a passion for helping Gotham’s underprivileged.
The site also reports previously announced director David Nutter has been replaced. Marcos Siega will helm the pilot after Nutter stepped down citing personal reasons.
The pilot will go into production soon, but it is still unclear if or when The CW will take it to series.
